I did sign up and receive an ARC for this book.
⚠️Spoilers included in this review.⚠️
When I signed up for this ARC, it was to help my "Below Deck" addiction. I was expecting some RH spicy spice between crew members on a charter yacht.
I was not prepared for them having to abandon ship, leave the captain, get separated from half the crew/guests, and end up on an island they may not be safe on.
This book ended up being so much more than what I originally thought I wanted.
Our lovely Chief Stew, Haley, gets five guys by the end of book 1. We have Captain Sam, Engineer Calvin, Deckhand Zane, Chef Dante, and Guest/Olympian Easton. With all these different guys you pretty much get whatever trope you prefer, including the forced proximity of the island, and Haley finding her chosen family.
The storyline did feel a little rushed in some areas, but taking in what the characters are going through (an emergency life or death situation), it puts you more in the characters mindset which I didn't mind.
We do get every main characters POV which helps as well. I tend to find these confusing trying to remember who's POV I'm in. It took awhile, but I was slowly able to tell based on their inner dialog. Calvin is more technical in his thinking and broody, while Dante is also his own brand of brood with a hint of funny wit. Zane and Easton are the ones I struggled with the most, as they are the most similar of the group in my opinion. (Minus status) And for Sam you'll have to read on your own.
Normally when I read RH series, by the end of the first one, I typically have a "favorite". It isn't always the same by the end, but it always happens. I don't with this one. They each have different nicknames for Haley and they are all super cute. They each have different personalities, that honestly can't compare, and while they have their issues, they all agree Haley comes first, and she is in control.
At the end of this book, like many series, was a cliffhanger. A really, really, really good one, that made me sign up for the rest of the series.
Overall I felt that for what I was looking for and what I got, this book gets 5 stars. The spicy was slow starting, and speckled into the story well, but ramped up near the end.
I loved it, and can not wait for the next one!
This book 1 of 4 from the Wrecked series by Ellie Pond, available on KU.
(This is my own personal review based on my opinion on this book/series. Not everyone enjoys the same books, just because I loved/hated it doesn't mean you will love/hate it. As always, check your trigger warnings.)
