This is not a love story it is obsession.
The mmc is completely unhinged, and unapologetic about it. This story is not for the faint of heart, and crosses so many boundaries, it's called a Dark Artist Stalker Novel for a reason.
Immediately we are put in the mindset of a traveling historian, Everleigh. Who is being stalked, by an artist, who leaves beautiful artwork of her. Of course no police officer would believe a booktok girlie about the situation, so she doesn't say anything.
Then she gets kidnapped by said Artist stalker, The mysterious masked Archeron.
Will she fall victim to him, Stockholm Syndrome, or Fix-Him Syndrome?
A tale of pure obsession.
"It will explore the depths of human emotion, the fragility of connection, and the beauty of surrender. It is not for the faint of heart, nor the crude of mind.”
Emilys writing tends to weave pieces of her own experiences and tramas within the story. I also saw a few possible references to some of her other writings. Which is always lovely to see.
Each chapter begins with a snippet of foreshadowing, which baits the reader to continue reading, and unweave the thread of mystery that surrounds Archeron and his art.
What begins as a primal game turns into a beautiful "BDSM Revenge Opera". Blood is a fluid often seen in this book. The story includes multiple 🌶 scenes that are dark, and delicious.
The storyline is mostly easy to follow, I did feel like i needed to reread a paragraph here and there, but I never felt lost in the storyline.
Archeron is not a character to fall for, but it is difficult not to. The way he cares for Everleigh, while taking her well past her limits questioning her sanity. (Thank you Cherry for giving her sound reason.) There is no question by the end of the book, you too will see why he is the God of Art.
Remember this is not a story of Romance, but of pure unhinged obsession. There is a very limited amount of "I love you", but a ton of "Please, F**k Me!" (Especially in the A$$).
This is a book that releases on 3/3/2025.
(This is my own personal review based on my opinion on this book. Not everyone enjoys the same books, just because I loved/hated it doesn't mean you will love/hate it. As always, check your trigger warnings.)
